The Football League are looking for a new sponsor for the competition next season after failing to agree a new deal with current sponsors Coca-Cola.

According to reports, Coca-Cola’s new offer of £6 million was not enough for the Football League, who are said to be confident of attracting a bigger deal financially.

Energy supplier E.ON have already announced that they’re ending their sponsorship of the FA Cup at the end of the current season, and are reported to be interested in staying in football, possibly as sponsors of the Football League.

Coca-Cola are also interested in staying in the English game, but are said to be concentrating on deals with the 2010 World Cup and Olympic Games, among other big deals.

The Premier League have also rejected Barclay’s new three-year offer for sponsorship of the competition.
