Highly-rated Owls midfielder Yoann Folly has agreed an extension to his contract – which was due to end at the end of the season – which will keep him at the club until 2009.

The Frenchman has impressed Wednesday fans with his fine form at the start of the current season and has agreed to extend his initial one-year deal with an option of a further year.

Owls boss Brian Laws told the official SWFC site: ‘I’m delighted Yoann has signed this new deal. Since I’ve been here I’ve been very pleased with his contribution to the team. He is quality and I think he desrves the security of this contract.’

The 21-year-old joined Wednesday on a permanent deal at the start of the season after impressing on-loan from Southampton towards the end of last season – and has been a big hit with the Hillsborough faithful.

After suffering an injury at the start of the campaign he’s come straight back in to the fold and has been a key part to the Owls’ recent upturn in results which has seen them rise to their highest position of the season.
