Former Peterborough boss and reported Owls target Darren Ferguson is set to accept the manager’s position at Preston North End tomorrow according to reports.

Ferguson, son of Manchester United boss Sir Alex, was amongst the favourites for the vacant manager’s position at Hillsborough following the sacking of Brian Laws.

But the Deepdale club seem to have acted quickly in getting their man as a replacement for Alan Irvine, who departed North End recently.

It means it’s one less name for Owls fans, and chairman Lee Strafford, to consider for the position at S6.

Ferguson is thought to have been interviewed by the Owls recently, but BBC Sport is reporting he spoke to PNE on Sunday and agreed to his new role at the weekend.
