Sam Hutchinson was absent as Sheffield Wednesday enjoyed a 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon. The 30-year-old has been a regular in midfield under Garry Monk but was missing at the City Ground due to suspension.
Hutchinson is serving a two-match ban for ten yellow cards, Wednesday confirmed in Friday’s match preview. He’ll miss the Owls’ home tie with Bristol City on December 22 before returning ahead of their trip to face Stoke City on Boxing Day.
How will Sheffield Wednesday fare against Stoke City?
The Englishman had a one-match ban in October for five yellow cards, causing him to miss Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Wigan Athletic (October 5), and has continued accumulating bookings at a similar rate ever since.
Hutchinson was cautioned in the Owl’s 3-1 win over Reading (August 3), 1-0 win over Luton Town (August 20), 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town (September 15), Fulham (September 21), 1-0 defeat to Hull City (October 1), 1-1 draw with Cardiff City (October 18), 1-0 win over Stoke City (October 22), 2-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion (November 23), 3-1 win over Charlton Athletic (November 30) and 1-1 draw with Derby County (December 11).
Massimo Luongo started ahead of the 30-year-old on Saturday, so time will tell if Garry Monk sticks or twists against Stoke.
