Morgan Fox may have an uncertain future at Sheffield Wednesday as his contract is expiring this summer and was linked with a move to Huddersfield Town, Nottingham Forest and West Bromwich Albion in December.

There hasn’t been much progress made on the 26-year-old signing a new deal since, but there also hadn’t been an update on the clubs supposedly interested until the Sheffield Star named all three clubs as present suitors for £900,000-rated Fox.

Is that still really the case, however?

Who did Sheffield Wednesday sign Josh Windass on loan from?

Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield have been named as suitors for the 26-year-old, but the Terriers have Jaden Brown (14 Championship appearances) and Harry Toffolo (10 appearances) who can operate at left-back, as per WhoScored, so they don’t have an immediate need for a new face.

Nottingham Forest

Forest have been linked with Fox as a replacement for Jack Robinson and Ben Osborn, both of whom joined Sheffield United this season, but as per WhoScored, the Reds have Yuri Ribeiro (18 appearances) who’s a regular at left-back and Gaëtan Bong (one appearance) who was signed as cover from Brighton & Hove Albion.

West Bromwich Albion

Albion have also been named as suitors in Yorkshire Live’s report, but as per WhoScored, the Baggies have Kieran Gibbs (10 appearances), Conor Townsend (21 appearances) and Nathan Ferguson (21 appearances) who can operate at left-back.

Fox may have suitors after his impressive form in 2020, but Huddersfield, Forest and West Brom don’t have a fervent need to procure his signature.

It seems this latest story has come from a December rumour from TEAMtalk and repurposed to fit a narrative that the trio of clubs are weighing up making a move for the 26-year-old this summer.

It doesn’t appear that will be the case, with these latest claims of interest in Fox nothing short of perplexing.
