Former Wednesday player Daniel Jones has been sacked by Port Vale after a training ground bust-up with club captain Doug Loft.

Jones, who left Wednesday in the January 2013 after failing to cement a regular first-team slot at Hillsborough, had an altercation with Loft in training last Thursday that left his team-mate with serious facial injuries.

Vale have sacked the 27-year-old but boss Micky Adams says the incident will be dealt with internally. ‘It’s another negative headline that, for some reason, this club attracts, but it has to be dealt with internally,’ he said.

Jones made 23 league starts for the Owls during a two-and-a-half year stint following a permanent move from Wolves.
