Wednesday have today announced that winger Richard Evans’ contract has been terminated by mutual consent.

Evans has not featured for the Owls since September 2003 and has had a tough time at Hillsborough with injuries and the arrival of new managers.

He’s recently impressed on trial at Shrewsbury Town and it’s thought they may take him on a short term contract to prove himself after months on the sidelines.

Shrewsbury manager Fary Peter’s told the club’s official website: ”He trained with us for a day and then played the reserve game against Blackpool last week.”

”We were very impressed with the way he trained and in the match, it was only a reserve game but he was getting to the by-line and getting crosses in from anywhere.”

Evans has made just eleven appearances for the club after signing from Birmingham City for a free transfer on deadline day March 2003.
