“Deserved” Point For Monk As Wednesday Dig Deep Against Fulham

|

Having picked up a debut win following his appointment as Sheffield Wednesday’s new manager last weekend against Huddersfield Town, Garry Monk would’ve been hoping to make it two from two in today’s Hillsborough based clash with Fulham.

Sadly for us, Fulham absolutely dominated the ball and they took the lead shortly before the half time break, and although we limited them to fewer chances than we created (with far less of the ball), by the final ten minutes of the clash it looked like we were never going to make a breakthrough and get back on level terms.

But we did just that three minutes into stoppage time as late substitute Adthe Nuhiu made his mark and salvaged a hard earnt point.

Speaking to the Official Site following the full time whistle, Monk said of our efforts and the performance.

“We deserved something from the game because we never gave up, we showed the qualities we will need throughout the season. We had the character, the spirit and the togetherness and that’s the first thing you need if you are to succeed. Even at a massive football club like Sheffield Wednesday, you need all these traits. The fans demand it first and foremost and that’s what my teams must have.”
