Fulham goalkeeper Mark Crossley has joined Wednesday on-loan until January and is expected to make his debut for the Owls in Saturday’s trip to Ipswich Town.

Brian Laws has swooped to make his first signing as Owls boss following the end of Brad Jones’s three-month loan spell at Hillsborough on Saturday – with the Fulham number one arriving at S6 this week.

The former Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough stopper told the Fulham official site he’s delighted with the move north.

‘I have worked hard to regain my fitness after a frustrating period at the start of the season. Having spoken to Chris Coleman I know that he wants me to get some games under my belt, so this is the best way for me to achieve that and I`m grateful to Sheffield Wednesday and Brian Laws for this opportunity.’ he said.

‘I am looking forward to playing some football at a ground I know well, and then just seeing what happens in January.’

New Wednesday boss Brian Laws has played alongside Crossley at Nottingham Forest and was delighted to capture the services of the stopper.

He told the official Owls site: “I’m delighted Fulham have allowed him out. I know Mark well, he’s experienced and is a good organiser. He brings a work ethic and a calming influence to the team and is also a good passer of the ball.”

The Barnsley-born Fulham stopper is currently down the pecking order at Craven Cottage behind Anti Niemi and is keen to return to action following an injury which restricted his first team opportunities this season.
