Wednesday will be holding a minutes silence before the Steel City Derby tommorow in memory of the two Owls fans who died in a road accident on the way back from Coventry on Wednesday night.

Blades ‘keeper Paddy Kenny has urged fans from both side of the city to observe the silence.

He told the SUFC site: ”The rest of the players and myself want it to be observed by everyone inside the ground. When something like this happens it puts everything else into perspective, especially a game of football.”

He continued: ”I’m a father and I’d be gutted if anyone disrupted it. The same goes for all the rest of the lads as well. I just want everyone to know that.”

The plea follows fears that a minority of away supporters may fail to observe the silence.

Blades boss Neil Warnock joined the plea, saying: ”We might be rivals on the pitch but off it we’re all human beings who should respect one another. If it was the other way round our fans would want the same.”
