With the Steve Bruce saga appearing to come to an end with his resignation and the announcement on Wednesday morning that as expected he had signed a new deal at Newcastle United to become their Rafa Benitez replacement, it seems fans can expect the story to roll on for a little bit longer yet.
£4m Reasons To Wish Steve Bruce The Best, Anyone For Hughton
With reports confirming his switch to St James’ Park this morning, it didn’t take Sheffield Wednesday long to make a comment of their own, and the Statement put out was short, sweet and to the point.
“The Club is disappointed to learn via public statement issued by Newcastle United that it has appointed former Sheffield Wednesday staff Steve Bruce, Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence. Regardless of the fact that the staff resigned from their positions with the Club on Monday, there remains outstanding legal issues to be resolved between the club and the staff and Newcastle United. The Club is currently considering its position and taking the appropriate legal advice.”
Taking to social media to react to the news, clearly it seems the vast majority of Newcastle fans are less than impressed with the appointment, but now that we can draw a line under it, Owls fans were simply looking for Dejphon Chansiri to stick it to Mike Ashley now. Bizarrely, even some Newcastle fans seemed to like the idea of us causing trouble for their owner, given the lack of love shared.
Nice statement. Let’s get a new man in ASAP please Mr Chansiri and forget about the snake.

This is the best thing that has ever happened to swfc for bringing us all together. Sue the arse off the fat cabbage head, get us a good established manager and let’s get up this season. Steve Bruce, a man with no morals!

“There is a huge challenge ahead of us, but it’s one that my staff and I are ready for. We’ll roll our sleeves up and we’ll be giving it everything from the off to ensure supporters have a successful team that they can be proud of.”
