Wednesday new-boy Leon Clarke netted his first goal in the famous blue and white shirt as the Owls reserve team came from behind to secure a 3-2 victory over Barnsley reserves.

Clarke netted the opening goal of the encounter at Hillsborough on Tuesday afternoon as he hit a low shot by former Owls stopper David Lucas on a bitterly cold afternoon in S6.

But it was left to an out-of-favour Wednesday striker to complete the victory after the Owls had fallen 2-1 down. David Graham, fresh on the back of a loan spell at Bradford City, netted either side of half-time – the first assisted by strike partner Clarke, the second pouncing on a defensive mistake.

The strike duo will give Owls boss Brian Laws a welcome selection headache ahead of the vital Championship clash with Southampton at St Mary’s next week.

Winger Wade Small was also part of the side in a bid to improve his fitness in the ten-day lay-off, while Steve Adams also played the full 90 minutes along with Sean McAllister and goalkeeper Chris Adamson.
