Its been a fine day for on-loan Owls strikers – with Leon Clarke netted two late goals to rescue a point for John Sheridan’s Oldham in their 2-2 draw at lowly Brentford.
Earlier in the afternoon, fellow Owls loanee Barry Corr netted the first league goal of his career and put in a top performance as Paul Sturrock’s Swindon side swept aside promotion rivals Lincoln City at Sincel Bank.
And Clarke’s double for the Latics at Griffin Park will give Owls boss Brian Laws plenty of food for thought when the former Wolves hitman returns from his one-month spell with the League One club shortly.
The Bees were coasting with five minutes to go at 2-0, but Oldham quickly reduced the defecit as Clarke headed home from close range before stepping up to take his tally to three goals in three appearances and net the leveller from the spot.
And Owls boss Brian Laws will be keen for Clarke to show the Owls faithful what he can do when he returns to S6 at the end of the month.
Laws said, ‘The whole idea of loaning him out to Oldham was to get him some match fitness and sharpness, to get some 90 minutes action under his belt. He’s done that and he’s some more action to come over there.
‘But the loan won’t be extended, I want him back here and to get him some games when he comes back here. Leon will be back with us after a couple more games and then I will be looking to play him.’
