Charlton Athletic are keen on making Akpo Sodje’s stay at The Valley a permanent one at the end of his one-month loan deal.

Owls boss Brian Laws sent injury-ravaged Sodje to the League 1 club on a one-month loan deal, in what was thought to be an ideal chance for the striker to gain some much-needed match fitness.

But it seems Charlton boss Phil Parkinson has other ideas, with a permanent switch on the cards should all parties come to an agreement in the January transfer window.

Parkinson said: ‘His contract is up in the summer and it’s a deal we could possibly make permanent in January if we like him and he likes us.’

Sodje’s current deal at Hillsborough is up at the end of the season but Wednesday could well cash-in on the former Port Vale man.
