It was a good start to life at Hillsborough for new Sheffield Wednesday manager – as he picked up his first three points since moving to the club over the September international break – albeit his start came at the John Smith’s Stadium as we faced Huddersfield Town.
Both sides had new managers on the day and we had been linked ourselves with Danny Cowley, but thanks to goals from Steven Fletcher and Sam Winnall, Monk had the last laugh as he looked to put Birmingham City disappointment and nonsense behind him.
It was a mixed game in many ways, with the hosts slightly edging it from a statistics point of view, but we did have more efforts overall on the day so few can begrudge us the win.
Reacting to the performance on social media following the game, summer arrival Dominic Iorfa came in for particular praise following his individual showing on the day.
Well played at back today looked in complete control
