The season may only seem weeks old and the new campaign months away – but the draw for the first round of the Carling Cup takes place this Friday!

Wednesday have had little luck in the competition of late, although did enjoy reaching the semi-final where they were knocked out by Premiership Blackburn Rovers back in 2002.

Last year’s competition saw the Owls pitted against local rivals Rotherham United in the first round, where they triumphed with ease before being knocked out of the competition two rounds later against Premiership Everton.

But Wednesday will once again be in the draw for the first round this time around, and will be keen to see who they get to play against – with an array of mouth-watering matches available, including derby matches against Sheffield United and Leeds United.

The draw takes place this Friday, so keep your eyes on Vital Sheffield Wednesday to see who the Owls will play in the first round.
