Sheffield Wednesday recently lost their third league game in a row, suffering a 3-1 home defeat to Preston North End on Wednesday evening, which led to supporters calling out a number of players for their poor performances. Fans blasted Liam Palmer, Dominic Iorfa in defence, were unimpressed by Alessio Da Cruz and Atdhe Nuhiu in attack, and slated Wednesday’s midfield too – Joey Pelupessy in particular.
pelupessy giving a lesson in how to single handedly lose a game of football. impressive

Pelupessy and monk have to go. Picked totally the wrong side.

Watching Pelupessy hurts. #swfc

Why give pelupessy a years deal! Worse midfielder going. Well he’s not even a footballer!!

Pelupessy, totally anonymous…….until he fouled keeper/stood offside for that goal. Tremendous impact #swfc

Give Lee a contract – Pelupessy should never have got one.

Pelupessy offers nowt physically. Loses like every header.

The whole Pelupessy thing is particularly baffling. Different managers have given him games – what on earth are they seeing that we don’t? He looks like someone who won his place in the side in a raffle. Tries his best but then again so would I!

Pelupessy managed to get booked before touching the ball and his stupidity chalked off what would have otherwise been a perfectly good goal, he also lost his man for their 3rd. PNE could have easily had 3 by half time. I respectfully disagree. #swfc

Pelupessy isn’t good enough. I will say that I thought Nuhiu had a decent game and his involvement in the goal was good to see. I’m not a fan of Monk but it is a hard job for him. As it would be for anybody but for me he isn’t helping himself he’s only making things worse.

Pelupessy is league one at best, I can’t believe we kept him on even if cheap. We need a younger replacement for Hutchinson, more legs in midfield.

Last night Joey Pelupessy got booked before touching the ball, interfered uneccessarily with play costing Börner a goal and lost his man for the 3rd. Monk has just given him a new contract!!! Excuse me if I don’t trust his judgement to build his own team. #swfc

Its better to have one less player than have Pelupessy in the squad. Because then there is no way he can be on the pitch which is at least a crumb of comfort. It was an easy decision but Monk didnt make it.

Against Preston, the 27-year-old played for 90 minutes, made 42 touches, won one aerial duel, completed 78.8% of his 33 passes, picked up one booking, attempted one long ball which failed to find a teammate, made four tackles, blocked one shot, made three clearances and gave away three fouls.
Pelupessy joined Wednesday from Heracles Almelo for £450k in 2018 and has gone on to make 73 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal with three assists. The Dutch midfielder has struggled for first-team football in 2019/20, making 19/40 appearances across the board, so fans thought he’d be moved on this summer.
Garry Monk opted to extend Pelupessy’s deal, however, but his latest performances haven’t vindicated the decision. Wednesday face Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, but it remains to be seen if the 27-year-old will start. Barry Bannan, Kieran Lee, Massimo Luongo and Alex Hunt are available to Monk.
