A question mark continues to hang over the future of Marcus Tudgay as a Wednesday player after Burnley joined Blackpool in the race for his signature.

Tudgay has already been the subject of a bid from the Premier League newcomers but the Owls rejected their offer last week.

The Bloomfield Road club return with a higher offer for the former Derby County man as the new Premier League season edges ever closer.

But they could face competition from npower Championship side Burnley, who seem to have entered the race for his services this week.

Goalkeeper Lee Grant has already made the switch to Turf Moor this summer to join former boss Brian Laws, and Tudgay could well go the same way if the Clarets can tempt Wednesday with an offer.

Tudgay could be part of Wednesday’s squad for the season opener against Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday but he could move to pastures new before the end of the current transfer window.
