Brian Laws’ Burnley have today completed a deal to sign Wednesday’s in-demand goalkeeper Lee Grant for an undisclosed fee

The Clarets had an offer, believed to be around the £1 million mark, accepted for the former England U21 by the Owls on Sunday.

And Grant, who enjoyed a loan spell at Turf Moor in 2005, has penned a three-year deal with the npower Championship club, ending his time as Wednesday’s number one.

Burnley were thought to have to compete against West Brom and Bristol City for the goalkeeper’s services.

But former Owls boss Laws has got his man, ending months of speculation over the future of the former Derby stopper, who was Wednesday’s player of the season last year.

Owls boss Alan Irvine, who declared himself unhappy at the fee received for the stpper, must now act quickly to find a replacement before the new League 1 season, which starts on Saturday, August 7.
