Bruce Has A Point As He Bemoans Norwich Draw & Highlights The Referee

|

With loose Play-Off promotion hopes largely over for Steve Bruce’s Sheffield Wednesday side, there’s still plenty to play for as we look for momentum going into the 2019/20 campaign but today’s late trip to Carrow Road to face Norwich City was always going to be tricky.

It didn’t get any easier 19 minutes into the game as the hosts took the lead in the match and they were better dominating at that stage. We did have a relatively speedy answer through Fernando Forestieri as he levelled the scores up just after the half-hour mark in quite spectacular fashion to send us into the break tied at one a piece.

Second half we were better and quickly out of the blocks as Steven Fletcher gave us the advantage in the 53rd minute to make it 2-1.

Norwich did find another gear and scored their second to take a point seven minutes into stoppage-time, so 2-2 and plenty of positives to take.

Speaking to the BBC following the end of the game, Bruce said of our efforts against the Championship table leaders.

“I don’t know why the referee plays five minutes added time. I don’t know where that comes from as there hasn’t been a physio on the pitch as far as I can remember. He’ll say he added 30 seconds for a substitution, but it’s probably taken them five seconds as they were trying to get him on for a corner. But, I don’t think it was a foul for the free-kick either. All night, I think his (referee’s) decisions were poor and he’s got to do better than that. To not look at your watch and to give them that sneak at the end, makes it a dramatic finish for Norwich and obviously we’re really disappointed.”
