Tom Lees’ performance in Sheffield Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Charlton Athletic drew praise, but he wasn’t the only defender credited for helping the Owls keep a long-awaited clean sheet. Morgan Fox also impressed on his return to the starting lineup and was hailed by supporters on social media.
The 26-year-old saw a lot of the ball, frequently got forward and put balls into the box, create a lot of opportunities for teammates and was diligent in his defensive duties. It was Fox’s first start for Wednesday in four weeks, but he didn’t show signs of rust.

Forestieri, Bannan, Lees, Palmer, Lee and Fox all brilliant tonight. Fletcher coming on and showing what we’ve missed for weeks as well. What a vitally important win #SWFC

Lees had a quality match. Hope that puts the Lees doubters back in their boxes for a bit. This tackle gave us the platform to go on and win #swfc https://t.co/n1yUa8kv1I

Against Charlton, the left-back played for 90 minutes, had 57 touches, created three chances, completed 74.3% of his 35 passes, whipped in five passes with 40% accuracy, found a teammate with five of his 11 long balls, made one interception, blocked one shot, made one clearance and drew two goals.
Fox has made 28 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring and creating four goals. He’s impressed throughout the campaign and was missed while sidelined with injury.
