After coming off the bench to set up one goal and score another in Sheffield Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Leeds United, Atdhe Nuhiu was hailed by fans on social media. The 30-year-old was introduced in the 68th minute and made a telling impact at Elland Road.

First, he played a brilliant through ball to Jacob Murphy to break the deadlock. Then, he fired an effort into the top corner after being teed up by Adam Reach. Nuhiu hasn’t always had the love of fans due to his inconsistency, but he’s often had a knack of popping up with important goals from the bench.

Against Leeds, Nuhiu played for 22 minutes, had 15 touches, won two aerial duels, completed 81.8% of his 11 passes, created one chance that ended up an assist, whipped in one cross and had one shot that ended up a goal.

The Kosovo international has made 25 appearances for Wednesday this season, scoring and creating seven goals. Nuhiu has only racked up 832 minutes of Championship football, however, as he’s been behind Steven Fletcher, Jordan Rhodes and sometimes Sam Winnall in the pecking order.

He proved his worth when called upon against Leeds, but it remains to be seen if he’ll start against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

How will Sheffield Wednesday fare against Blackburn Rovers?
