Manager Carlos Carvalhal has reflected on poor fortune as Sheffield Wednesday lost this weekend’s tie with Bolton Wanderers.

Heading to the Macron Stadium for the game, Wednesday fell to a two one defeat with the hosts scoring after 10 minutes and an own goal doubling their advantage just after the hour mark. Kieran Lee’s effort with just over 20 minutes still to play proved nothing more than a consolation.

For Carvalhal though as he spoke to the Official Site, he rued luck and decisions as they went against us for the third successive game.

At two one Lee was fouled in the area but the referee waved the protests away, booking Lee for simulation in the process.

‘I do not like to talk about these decisions normally but this time I cannot stay quiet. I am not talking about anything other than facts, and these are facts.’

He went on to exclaim.

‘Against Birmingham, we had a good goal that was ruled invalid, against Leeds we had a good goal that was ruled invalid and now today we are refused a very clear penalty. These are big decisions and they are costing us points. Against Leeds it was lucky as it did not affect the result – this was not the case at Birmingham and this was not the case today.’

As for the performance, he felt it was an open game but we just didn’t do enough with the chances we created across the 90 and again the bad luck came into play with the own goal.

‘We had chances, they had chances and this was an open game. This was because Bolton scored early in the game as we were fighting to come back. Sam was very unlucky with the own goal and these things happen in football. But we scored the goal, we created chances and who knows after that if we get the penalty?’

thestar also have him saying post game that the full extent of the injury to Jordan Rhodes wasn’t yet known.

‘We don`t know the full extent of the problem at this moment.’

Talking about the game, he also took responsibility for the loss.

‘I accept all the responsibility. I played the same team who played very well against Leeds because they deserved to perform again. They didn`t perform against Bolton but I will not put any responsibility on them.’
