Premier League side Blackburn Rovers will provide the Owls’ final opposition in their pre-season preparations at Hillsborough this afternoon, kick-off 3pm.

Brian Laws and his men have enjoyed a successful pre-season campaign both results and performance wise, and Sam Allardyce’s men will provide the perfect test for Wednesday to fine tune their performance ahead of next week’s Championship kick-off.

Rovers are set to field a strong squad for the clash, with players such as Paul Robinson, El-Hadji Diouf, Benny McCarthy and David Dunn all set to make the trip to S6.

And the side Laws fields this afternoon is likely to be close to the starting line-up that will pull on the famous blue and white shirts for the first game of the season against Barnsley next weekend.

The only doubts are over Darren Purse and Tommy Miller, but the Owls boss is expected to arrange a behind closed doors friendly match in midweek to help get fitness levels up.
