Championship rivals West Brom have made a bid for Wednesday winger Chris Brunt according to Sky Sports.

Brunt’s future at Hillsborough has been under the spotlight in recent weeks after contract negotiations with the Northern Irish international broke down, with the winger out of contract at the end of next season.

But although Wednesday have insisted the Middlesbrough youth product will remain at the club to help them on the pitch next season, a big-money offer for the winger could see him exit the Hillsborough doors sooner rather than later.

Fulham, West Ham, Wigan and Manchester City have all shown interested in Brunt, with the youngster destined for a move to the Premiership thanks to a superb season domestically with the Owls and internationally with his country.

West Brom have already lost a number of key players from last season, including tricky midfielder Jason Koumas, and could see Brunt as the ideal replacement following his superb performances in the two victories over Tony Mowbray’s men last term.
