Terry Burton’s stay as Wednesday assistant coach could be a brief one with Arsenal chasing his services as reserve team coach.

Burton, former manager of Wimbledon, arrived at Hillsborough as assistant to Dave Jones earlier this year and played a key role in aiding Wednesday’s promotion to the Championship.

But his stay could be short and sweet, with The Independent reporting that he’s had an interview with Arsenal over the position of reserve team boss.

Pat Rice’s retirement as Arsene Wenger’s assistant has prompted a re-shuffle in the coaching set-up at the Premier League club.

Burton, 59, was a player as a schoolboy with the Gunners and also had a short spell as reserve team boss in the 1980s.
