Like Massimo Luongo, Adam Reach returned to training ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday confirmed on Wednesday. The 27-year-old has been out of action with a toe injury since early-February and has missed eight games in all competitions.

Reach made 33 appearances across the board this season, scoring and creating nine goals. His last outing came in Wednesday’s 0-0 draw with Millwall six weeks ago.

Morgan Fox has come in at left-back and made the position his own, but the Owls have a void for Reach in midfield as Garry Monk can’t decided who he wants on the left-wing – Fernando Forestieri, Kadeem Harris and Alessio Da Cruz have operated in the role to varying degrees of success recently.

Reach would be a good option for Wednesday, but he won’t be match fit. The 27-year-old only returned to training a day ago, so it’s unlikely he’ll start on Saturday. Monk’s side are desperate for a result and need a fully fit starting eleven to stand a chance of arresting their slide.

How will Sheffield Wednesday fare against Nottingham Forest?

Win

Draw

Lose

The Owls currently sit 15th in the Championship with 48 points from 37 games and have picked up only one win from their last 10 league outings. Ahead of their meeting with Forest, Wednesday have conceded 14 goals in the last month and have just one home win in nearly 12 weeks.

Forest are fifth in the table with 60 points and have lost just one of their last five games. They have the fourth-best defensive record while losing only three times on the road this season. Wednesday will be in for a difficult game on Saturday.

Defeat for the Owls could see them being pulled into a relegation battle, let alone making Monk’s position precarious, so only a win will do at Hillsborough.
