Hamilton Academicals boss Billy Reid has emerged as a front-runner for the Wednesday manager’s hot seat this week.

The SPL manager is thought to be one of a number on a shortlist to succeed Brian Laws at the helm, a shortlist that also includes Nigel Worthington.

Vital Sheffield Wednesday understands Reid has been, or will be in Sheffield soon, for talks with Owls chairman Lee Strafford.

The 47-year-old won the Manager of the Year Award in 2008 for Hamilton after guiding the club to the SPL, and continues to work wonders in Scotland’s top flight.

Hamilton ran out 2-1 winners over Aberdeen at the weekend, a result which moves them up to seventh in the table and comes on the back of an impressive victory over Hearts.
