On Wednesday I covered the utterly bizarre rumours and reports linking Sheffield Wednesday with a move for Chelsea and former England centre-half Gary Cahill.
To save overly repeating the same story here, if you’ve been living under a rock this week and hadn’t heard this one please click on the below.
Not Even October & Silly Season Returns – Wednesday Linked With Move For England International
With the club building up to tonight’s Championship clash with Marcelo Bielsa’s high flying Leeds United at Hillsborough, manager Jos Luhukay has obviously been meeting with the press to preview the game so the obvious question did come up.
The Star carry Luhukay’s quotes when asked the question about whether we were planning or planned to try and approach the 32-year-old to organise a deal either in the January window or next summer.
“It’s absolutely not possible for us. I can only say when I must bring in new players for Sheffield Wednesday I look not at that age. I say that with respect for players like that with their careers and all they have done in the game.”
Good answer from Jos Luhukay on the Gary Cahill link in the national press his week.
“Absolutely not possible for us.” Said he hadn’t heard of it before the story was brought up at press.
JL made it clear he wants to sign young players between the 19-23 age bracket.#SWFC

Luhukays’s answer shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, our Financial Fair Play issues are incredibly well known so despite how massive a deal and a signing it would be for us, even on a loan basis, Chelsea would need to be willing to cover 70-80% of his wages before it even comes into our possible ballpark and whilst that remains the case it’s not even worth dreaming about.
