Lee Bullen’s stock amongst Sheffield Wednesday fans continued to rise on Boxing Day as our caretaker gaffer helped oversee some Christmas cheer as we took a narrow victory over Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

Adam Reach scored the games only goal in the 20th minute of the first half and in keeping the clean sheet at the other end of the pitch, Bullen made it back to back victories to restore some hope.

It might not have been pretty but it was gutsy and our goalscorer took statistics website Whoscored’s star man rating for his performance with a score of 8.07.

With a number of strong and committed performances on the day, the top five best performers were completed by Tom Lees (7.60), Sam Hutchinson (7.53), Barry Bannan (7.52) and Keiren Westwood (7.28).

Michael Hector and Liam Palmer also received seven-plus scores for their efforts on the afternoon.

Despite better dominating the game and having far more efforts overall, only two Boro players got scores of seven or above.
