51 Touches, 3 Clearances & 1 Blocked Shot Takes 28 y/o Wednesday Surprise To MotM

With the disappointing defeat to Hull City in midweek, Sheffield Wednesday were looking to get back to winning ways as we welcomed Wigan Athletic to Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon for our next Championship clash.

It was a tight and pretty nervy affair where chances didn’t really flow, but Massimo Luongo’s second half effort was enough to separate the scores at the full time whistle, and with Steven Fletcher also having a goal ruled out for offside, few can argue that we didn’t deserve all three points.

Statistics website Whoscored slightly edged their player ratings in our favour, but they gave their star man award to summer signing Julian Borner with a score of 7.69.

Completing the top five on the day were goalscorer Massimo Luongo (7.61), Adam Reach (7.49), Kadeem Harris (7.35) and Joey Pelupessy (7.11).

Midfielder Barry Bannan also earned himself a seven plus score for his efforts on the day.

Into the international break with all three points and we see what the next fortnight brings.
