New manager Steve Bruce’s first appearance in the Sheffield Wednesday dugout at Hillsborough didn’t go entirely to plan as we failed to pick up all three points last Saturday against Reading.

There were positives for the gaffer to take though as he made it four points from two games as we kept the clean sheet to take the draw. The biggest positive in Bruce’s eyes was the defensive improvement we made across the 90 – especially in light of the conditions – but the next area for improvement in obviously the final third.

Statistics website Whoscored gave midfielder Adam Reach their top rating for our performances, with a score of 7.81.

Completing the top five best players from the day in their eyes were Steven Fletcher (7.63), Keiren Westwood (7.38), George Boyd (7.05) and Sam Hutchinson (6.96).

Fans will be disappointed that Reach couldn’t boost his score with the late effort he wasted that would’ve returned the victory but it’s a second clean sheet in as many games as we look for improvements.
