Yes, we know the rumours of a takeover at S6 have been more numerous than anti-Bryan Robson chants at Bramall Lane, but this one has come slightly out of the blue.

We all know of the desperation with all involved at S6 to get some kind of investment or takeover in place as soon as possible, and the Daily Star has today provided just a little ray of light as to the future of the club.

The national is today reporting that Wednesday are ‘on the verge’ of being taken over by a consortium from China for £40 million, which is news to us here at Vital Sheffield Wednesday at least.

Of course, there has been previous interest from a Chinese party, led by Carson Yeung, but the interest faded when Mr. Yeung decided to look in to Birmingham City instead, a deal which has since gone stale.

Could it be that Mr. Yeung, who was invited to a match at Hillsborough early last year by former Owls’ chairman Dave Allen, has re-ignited his interest here at S6, or is the party a new one?

Yes, we know it’s the Daily Star – but you know what they say, there’s no smoke without fire, and it’ll certainly be interesting to see just what fire is burning in the Hillsborough boardroom at the moment.

I’m sure it’s going to be a few interesting weeks and months at S6, both on and off the pitch…
