Sheffield Wednesday made the trip to Villa Park to face Aston Villa last weekend and we took all three points with a 2-1 victory courtesy of goals from Marco Matias and Steven Fletcher.

With the game having a number of talking points, it was Steve Bruce’s 100th game in charge, John McGinn’s fabulous volley – oh and our victory – midfielder Barry Bannan was the subject of much debate on social media following the match.

The Scottish international did, of course, come through Villa’s Academy set up before he departed back in August 2013 and whilst some were glad to see the back of him, a number of others remain unhappy with his departure – his performance on his old turf at the weekend did nothing to quell that nostalgia as although he wasn’t spectacular on the day, he more than kept things ticking over in the middle of the park and kept us flowing.

The 28-year-old with the left foot wand will certainly be pleased with most of those reviews from his former club ad we continue to get the benefits!
