Despite the unexpected departure of former manager Steve Bruce, it appears to have not counted against the spirit or the bottle of the Sheffield Wednesday first team group as on Saturday caretaker gaffer Lee Bullen saw his side keep his 100% record in the 2019/20 Championship campaign.

Okay, we’re only two games into the year and we’ll have disappointing moments, and despite having less possession than Barnsley at Hillsborough, we did far more with the ball and created far more problems for them – taking a justified 2-0 victory following goals by Jacob Murphy and Steven Fletcher.

Statistics website Whoscored were incredibly positive in their player ratings following our performance, but 32-year-old Fletcher took their star man award by a small margin over our debutant scorer Murphy.

They gave the Scottish internationals efforts 8.38, but on loan Murphy took a more than credible 8.21.

Completing the top five on the day were Kieran Lee (7.95), Julian Borner (7.86) and fellow new arrival Kadeem Harris (7.63).

Notable mentions for Liam Palmer, Sam Hutchinson, Tom Lees and Adam Reach who also all received plus seven scores.
