Sheffield Wednesday striker Fernando Forestieri may have been left disappointed at the full-time whistle in the weekend’s opening Championship day loss to Wigan Athletic as we went down 3-2 at the DW Stadium, but his own personal showing on the day saw him come in for plenty of praise.

Forestieri scored our second on the day after Atdhe Nuhiu had got himself on the scoresheet and it was an attempt at a comeback but we couldn’t find that third on the day to take a share of the spoils.
Whether or not we deserved a point is a different debate.
Having taken to social media following the game to send a simple message to the fanbase, our Italian youth international would’ve been delighted with the responses he received having got off the mark at the first time of asking this year.

With plenty of worries about his future owing to Wednesday’s financial position at the moment, fans will be hoping for an uneventful deadline day as undoubtedly Forestieri will have a huge impact on how successful, or not, 2018/19 becomes for us with everything else going on in the background.
