It’s been a week of celebration for ‘Wednesdayite’ as the Owls independant fans group reached the 1000 members milestone – and aquired over 300,000 shares to take them over the 10% shareholding mark in the club.

The news shows membership numbers in ‘Wednesdayite’, the independant Wednesday supporters’ society, are continuing to grow at a rapid rate – from 387 last year to over 1000 at the start of the new Championship campaign.

Wednesdayite has also consolidated its position as the second largest shareholder in the club thanks to the recent aqcuisition of 304,000 shares. The group now has a 10.07% shareholding in the club.

The milestone was reached at the Owls clash with Burnley at Hillsborough on Saturday, with 30 new members signing up at the new Wednesdayite office situated at their car park on Penistone Road. The addition of the matchday office means fans can go in and query any aspect of Wednesdayite’s aims and objectives before signing up.

In passing the 10% shareholding in the club Wednesdayite now have the power to call an EGM should fans feel the need to address any concerns they have with any aspect of the club.

The group also aims to raise funds for different areas of the club, such as SWFC Ladies and the SWFC academy, as well as for the surrounding community.
